#1 Entrepreneurial Blind Spot

One of the fastest ways to successfully  SCALE  your business is recruiting and hiring the right talent to get you where you want to grow… Yet 9 out of 10 Entrepreneurs  avoid it like the plague . Sure, most of us already know we need TOP talent to grow and scale our businesses, BUT the majority of Entrepreneurs  really  struggle “cracking the code” when it comes to  successfully  attracting, qualifying, hiring and  ultimately  RETAINING the right people  for their team.  In all fairness, it’s not like they teach us this in school. And I’ve yet to come across a training program or course that outlines a  proven formula and step-by-step process  to successfully hiring right-talent for each unique business   out there  (especially for Entrepreneurial-based businesses).  It’s our  Greatest   Entrepreneurial Blind Spot.    As Entrepreneurs, we eventually come to a pivotal point in our business when our sales and marketing will hit a plateau  (or in some cases, take a dive) ,  OR  our sales...

The Multitasking Myth

Ever been guilty of answering text messages during a meeting? Or checking email while you’re on a video call? MOST OF US do it. And if you said yes, who could blame you? Growing and scaling your business comes with a seemingly never ending to-do list. In our minds, it’s simply smart thinking to make the best use of our time, right? When your company is growing fast, we’re forced to find ways to “fit it ALL in”. But here’s something that may shock you… On average, people who try to multitask take 50% longer to complete a single task and make 50% more errors in their work than people who stay focused. Suddenly multitasking doesn’t sound like such a great way to get more done, does it? But, we were brought up believing that in order to be productive we must learn to multitask to reach our goals and get things done… At least I was . Here’s the problem with that… When you are moving the needle on multiple projects at one time instead of focusing on making significant headway on on...

Belief, commitment, and the wheelchair from Israel

Do you remember your real first sale? You know, that  pivotal first sale  that ignited your passion for service through sales?  I remember mine like it was yesterday. It was the beginning of summer vacation and I had just arrived in Florida to visit my grandparents. Ever since I could remember, I would spend every summer break with my grandparents, and when I became old enough (4 years old), I would work right along side my grandfather in his business.  My grandfather  (who sought out to become an Entrepreneur at 50 years old)  built what at the time became the largest orthotics, prosthetics and durable medical equipment company in the southeast United States.    My grandfather had me cleaning wheelchairs, hospital beds, and filing. Everything everyone didn’t want to do, I did…Including cleaning the bathrooms. As I approached 12 years old, I started working with customers on the showroom floor. The summer I was 12, my grandfather told me that he wasn’t going to pay me an hourly wage  (...

Is your team scrambled eggs or an omelet?

When making an omelet, you definitely need eggs  (it’s the key ingredient, right?) .  You also need a stovetop, a pan, oil, and any preferred ingredients like pepper, salt, cheese, peppers, etc.  It’s not a technically an omelet without all those other ingredients… It can't be cooked without heat… And a pan puts it all together… You need all these things, or you just end up with scrambled eggs.  While eggs are the  main  ingredient, the other ingredients are pretty indispensable in the process  (if you truly have your heart set on an omelet).  I’m going to use this same analogy when it comes to a company structure. Let’s think of different talents on your team like different “ingredients”. Different talents are needed in a company to make the business “work”. Just like different ingredients are needed to make a proper omelet. Each ingredient has a “job” just like each person on your team has a “job”.  For example, the marketing director on a team has a completely different set of j...
